SUMMERVILLE POOL

North Toronto Masters Swim Club Summer Training Camp

IMPORTANT - MUST READ!!!

Check out Summerville Pictures!

UPDATED JUNE 28, 2010

Start date is Monday June 28th 8:05pm to 9:45pm

Hopefully the storms will blow thru before tonight's workout. If so, we are swimming!!!!!

  • This is not a learn to swim program!!! We are running a  High Performance Masters and Triathlon Training Camp for Swimming, with workout sessions ranging from 3000 to 5000 meters, with each lane having it's own skill level. We usually divide the group into Distance/Triathlete, and Sprinters/Stroke.

  • The minimum requirement to swim with the Club is you must be 19 years of age, able to swim 100 meters in under 2:30 seconds and be able to swim 800 meters straight. There are no exceptions to the above time and distance. This is for everyone's safety and swim etiquette, as well for the coaching staff, so that they know that you can swim the workout that is given with others in your lane. If you do not know your time - find out on your own time, not ours!

  • Due to insurance regulations all swimmers must be registered Masters Swim Canada Members (MSC) or with an affiliate Master's Swim Organization. If you do not have this membership, the fee is $40.00, which includes the MSC registration - payable by cash the day you swim. If the Coaching Staff does not know you - you must provide proof of your MSC Membership. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS! - Do not put the Coaching Staff on the spot - WE WILL SAY NO! Sorry to be so direct, but too many people were showing up on deck last year expecting to swim without understanding our insurance regulations and giving the Coaching Staff a hard time about it.

  • Workouts:  Workouts are Monday & Wednesday - 8:05 PM to 9:45 PM, Saturdays 7:50 AM to 9:45 AM - There is a 10 minute setup time for the pool. If you are riding your bike and would like to bring it on deck you must do so after evening public swim ends at 8:00 PM. This goes the same with your swim bags. If you do so before 8:00 PM the staff will not allow you on deck as it is City Policy for public swims. We have a great relationship with the staff at the pool and we intend to keep it that way.

  • Summer Membership Fees. The pay as you swim fees stay the same as last year! However, I do have to charge the new HST Tax..... I can negotiate with the City,  but I'm just not ready to take on the Ontario Government.....  So until July 1st, the fees are $8.00 for Monday and Wednesdays and $10.00 for Saturdays. After July 1st; $9.00 and $11.00 respectively. For those interested in a full Summer membership before July 1st: $200.00 GST included. After July 1st: $215.00 HST included. Please note that the membership fees do not include your Insurance fee of $40.00 if you are not a registered Masters Canadian Swimmer.

  • All swimmers must fill out and sign a North Toronto Masters Swim Club Summer Training  Camp Liability & Release Waiver and a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). No signature - No Swim! Once again sorry to be so direct - it's all about the insurance.

  • This membership is for the Summer only. If you are interested in joining the North Toronto Masters Swim Club full time, swimming with us in the Summer gives you first priority with space availability at your skill level in the Fall. As always returning member's have first dibs on next season's membership. Being direct again..... avoiding any misunderstandings.

  • If there is any sign of thunder or lightning 30 minutes prior to the start of the workout,  the workout will be cancelled.

  • There is no diving allowed in the pool.

  • Last workout of the Summer - Wednesday September 1, 2010 - Labour Day is late this year!!
